As a video sharing site, YouTube totally relies on user generated videos. In an effort to recognize some of the best uploaded videos, they’ve decided to give awards for the best videos uploaded in 2006. The awards are categorized into Most Inspirational, Most Creative, Best Series, Best Comedy, Musician of the Year, Best Commentary and “Most Adorable Video Ever. The voting is open between Monday to Friday (19^th March – 23^rd March), to see the nominees or vote go here. Winners will be announced on March 25^th and will be awarded with Trophies and a prominent spot on YouTube.

This event is most likely to turn into a yearly festival, or something like the Oscars. I think its great idea, this would probably promote better quality user-generated videos on YouTube.
