Need to find a job? Here are some ideas

October 13th, 2008 | Article by twinangel71 | Career, Culture and Society

Are you looking for that perfect job?  Have you been laid off due to the economy?  Looking for a job can get very frustrating and quite tiresome, not to mention time consuming. Well, to help you with your search, I have listed a few tips to get you started:

1) The best place to start would be your local newspaper.  Sunday’s newspaper usually has the most variety of jobs listed.  However, sometimes the  Wednesday paper has job listings just not as many.  Many times the paper will advertise major job fairs.  I recommend attending these  job fairs  because many employers will be present and may do on-the -site interviews, so be sure to bring an updated resume with you. If you are unable to purchase a newspaper you can always look on the internet for either your local newspaper or you can even look up another state’s newspaper.

2)  The internet also has resources available for you.  A few websites you can check are listed below:

A)  www.jobing.com , www.monsterjob.com , www.craigslist.com, www.careerbuilder.com

Once you register on the website, you can choose what state you want to search, the type of position, and most times you can apply right on-line. These sites are also  valuable because you can sign up to be alerted , through your e-mail, when there is a position available.  You can even post your resume which will allow the employers to find you.( I believe that some sites charge for this service)

3)  Be sure to have your resume readily available at all times.  You never know when you will be asked to submit one.  The way that many people end  up finding a job is by word of mouth.  Friends, relatives or neighbors can keep their ears open and notify you when something becomes available.  So be sure to tell as many people as you know that you are in the market for a new job.

4)  Be sure your resume is up-to-date and free of errors.  Your resume should not be lengthily for employers do not have time read it all.  Your resume should also include a cover letter stating your desired position and some of your qualifications.

These are only a few ideas to help get you started.  Good luck on your venture.

Is God Good?

September 30th, 2008 | Article by twinangel71 | Religion and Spirituality

If some one asked you, “is God good?”, what would you say?  Well, I guess that would depend on your belief on who or what your “god” is.  Is God some kind of force or energy? or is He a Being capable of showing emotions?  If you believe God is a force of some type then it can neither be bad nor good.  But, If you believe He is a Being, then He certainly is capable of being good.

What is “good” and what does it mean?  In our culture today, we overuse the the word “good”.  We say things like “my dog is very good” or “that was a good movie.”  Using the word good in these sentences is not bad but, do we really understand what the word “good” truly means.  Let’s look at Webster’s definition of the word.  Good is-”having the proper qualities, beneficial, valid; real, honorable, enjoyable, pleasant, virtuous, devout, kind, dutiful, and skilled.”  According to Webster’s definition and assuming we are talking about the God of the Bible, then yes, God is good

Now, let’s look at what God says about Himself in the Bible.  “the Lord is good and does what is right.” (Psalm 25:8) “Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure.” ( Psalm 71:31)  ” Why do you ask me who is good? Jesus replied.  There is only One that is good.”  (Matthew 19:17)  ”whatever is good and perfect comes from god above.” (James 1:17)  The Bible says that God alone is good and that any good that we do comes from God.

I know, you are probably asking why bad things happen if our God is good.  God has given each and everyone of us the gift of free will.  We have the ability to choose.  We can choose to do right or we can choose to do wrong.  If we take a closer look around us we would realize that the majority of the evil in this world is due to the choices we make.  So the next time something bad happens lets not be too quick to blame God for it.  God is good all the time.  He cannot change, for God is God.
