Blockbuster Online Rental Plans

November 14th, 2008 | Article by bargerms | Music and Movies, Recreation and Leisure

Life has been made easier with the internet. Products made available to people with the few clicks of a mouse. One of the better ideas I have seen is the ability to rent movies online. When I first heard of this idea, I thought about how much time I could save from driving to my local Blockbuster a few times a week. So I went online and signed up for Netflix. I never really had a problem with them. They provide a good service. I just felt that Blockbuster Online offered me a better deal with the amount of movies I rented . They have a plan no matter how much you are willing to spend per month.

For $3.99 a Month

This is Blockbuster Online’s cheapest plan. You are allowed to rent two dvd’s a month but you are only allowed to have one dvd at a time. You may also exchange a movie at a local Blockbuster if you choose for the low price of $1.99.

For $8.99 a Month

You are allowed to rent an unlimited amount of movies from Blockbuster Online with this plan. The kick is that again you are only allowed to have one dvd at a time. You have to keep in mind that it takes about 2 weeks for a dvd to arrive. This plan also offers two $1.99 in store exchanges.

For $9.99 a Month

This is one of the most commonly selected plans at Blockbuster Online as it is a real deal. For $9.99 a month you two dvd’s a month but only allowed one dvd at a time. However, you do not have to pay for the two in store exchanges with this plan. If you have a low budget, I would definitely recommend this plan over the previous plan.

For $11.99 a Month

With this plan, Blockbuster Online allows you rent an unlimited amount of dvd’s via mail. You are also allowed two free in store exchanges. If you have a few extra bucks, it maybe worth it to select this plan instead of the previous one.

For $13.99 a Month

I feel that this plan is a good value.  Again, You are allowed to rent an unlimited amount of movies from Blockbuster Online. However, with this plan you are allowed to rent two dvd’s at a time. This plan also offers $1.99 in store exchanges as well.

For $15.99 a Month

This plan is the same as the previous plan except you are allowed to rent three movies from Blockbuster Online instead of two. $1.99 in store exchanges still apply.

For $16.99 a Month

This is another favorite plan of mine. Blockbuster Online offers unlimited dvd’s through the mail as well as three free in store exchanges. You are only permitted to have 2 dvd’s at a time.

For $19.99 a Month

Okay, I realize these prices are getting a little higher  but the higher the price, the better value they are. If you can afford the extra three dollars a month, I would definitely choose this plan over the previous one. This plan from Blockbuster Online allows you two more free in store exchanges for a total of five. It  also allows you to have one more dvd at a time.

For $21.99 a Month

This is the plan I currently have. I feel it is the best value if you utilize the plan to your advantage. It is true that Blockbuster Online only allows you to have one dvd at a time with this plan, but you are allowed unlimited dvd’s through the mail and unlimited free in store exchanges. If you live close to a Blockbuster, I would definitely select this plan.

For $29.99 a Month

This plan is the same as the previous plan offered by Blockbuster Online. The only difference is that it allows you to have two dvd’s at a time instead of one. If you are thinking about selecting this plan, just ask yourself one question is eight dollars a month really worth having one more rental at a time?

For $34.99 a Month

This is Blockbuster Online’s most expensive plan. I wouldn’t recommend getting this package unless you are a real movie buff. This is the same as the previous two plans except for the fact that you are allowed to have three movies at a time.

Well, these are the plans that Blockbuster Online currently offers. I think I made it  pretty clear which plans I thought were more of a deal. I hope I helped you make your decision.  More information may be found on Blockbuster’s website at http://www.blockbuster.com . Then click on rent.

Plans are current as of November 13th, 2008.

RULES BEHIND THE STAGE

October 30th, 2008 | Article by insulin | Music and Movies

INTRODUCTION

As a music artist, I want to share my experience behind the scene so that people will really know what is really the policies for us musicians. Many of you thought that it is a nice life to be in the industry of music and actually it is if you can take it without sleeping.

Sleeping is really important to us because we only have few hours for it and if there are times that we have free time then we will grab it for sleeping in short term, we are restless for the people that we love to entertain…

I still remember my concert last November 9, 2007 Ultra… Everything is fast and you need to move fast and follow the rules back stage. It is lovely because you will not feel nervous anymore because in back stage, there are at least 5 people will assist you when you coming up the stage and will help you for all the things that you need. The break time during the event is only 2 minutes and you need to be fast. All the instruments should be ready and fix.

A talent coordinator will assist you and you will be assign to a room before the concert. It is enjoy but its stressful but if it is really your passion then you can do it..

GENERAL RULES BEHIND THE STAGE

All performers must enter the premises through the artist entrance - It means we cannot past to the entrance we people can see us so we have our own entrance.

Road manager must accompany band members at the Artists Entrance to help facilitate distribution id’s - You cannot enter easily without the talent id and the all access id. It is really important so that you can enter the back stage.

Id’s of band members and staff will be distributed as they enter and each one must individually sign in the master list - so every band members should sign.

Band will be met at the entrance by the assigned talent coordinator and accompanied to assigned dressing room.

Performers are advised to follow dinner call schedules

Green room call must be strictly observed. Assigned talent coordinator will escort band from the dressing room to specified stand by area where performers are expected to stay until they are cued to go on stage.

After performance… artist may return to their dressing room.

This is only the simple rules behind the scene and I hope you will list it down so you will know it when you are in some concerts.

Good luck.

Movie Review: Chasing liberty

October 30th, 2008 | Article by insulin | Music and Movies

MY REVIEW

At first, I thought that the movie will be not nice but when I start watching it, I was definitely wrong. The beautiful actress/singer Mandy Moore played the role of Anna, The daughter of the President of the United states who always want to have her freedom but then, his father was overprotective that results of making Anna run away to prove to his father that she want to be independent and taste every place that she will go. She met this guy name Ben in Prague without knowing that this guy is an European agent pretending to be a stranger but when they get to know each other, Ben seems to be violating the mission that is given to him.

Things that I love about the movie

I love the story of the movie because it is dealing on how our parents really protecting us and will do everything so that we will not be harm by others and the love that no matter who you are, you can love anyone in anytime and anywhere. I love the idea of the director and his really making the perfect places for all the scenes. All of the scenes are great and I have no doubt watching it.

WHY TO WATCH IT

Well I recommend this movie “Chasing Liberty” to you guys because it is really sweet and a romantic comedy movie so you will not gonna be bored for sure because there are cool scenes that is really sweet. All of your family can watch it because there are not violent scenes.

QUALITY OF THE MOVIE

If you will let me rate 1-10 based on love story movie then I will stay this one will be perfect 10, The characters are great and they performed well. The story is nice and heart melting and the movie is in high quality of production so you better watch it.

Audition Tips for Actors

October 29th, 2008 | Article by kre8iv1 | Career, Music and Movies, Other

Even if you love the spotlight, audition time for actors can be extremely tense. You have to sell yourself to these strangers and convince them that you are who they want. And you only have one chance to do it. Whether it’s the big screen, small screen or in-between, here are some guidelines that can make things go much smoother and help you put your best foot forward:

Be on time! This cannot be emphasized enough. Consider it like a job interview; showing up late only makes a bad impression and the directors wonder if you will be late if you are cast. And depending on what type of project it is, time is money and someone who may be consistently late is not worth taking a chance on.

Be friendly, but professional. Smile! Be pleasant. Just like any job, these people will have to work closely with you every day and do not want someone with a lousy attitude. That being said, remember to stay professional and not be overly familiar or inappropriate; this will only end up working against you by making people uncomfortable.

Be prepared. Do a checklist at home before you leave. Make sure you have all you need for the audition: headshot, resume, lines memorized, etc. If you have received any previous information or direction pertaining to the audition, follow it. Turn off your cell phone. It also doesn’t hurt to keep a small emergency kit with you containing things like safety pins, pens, paper, stain removal pen, mints, dental floss, tissues, etc.

Dress appropriately for the part. This does not mean that you have to be in full costume, but let the casting agent know that you can look the part. Very important - rehearse your audition in your costume. This is especially important if you are wearing high heels, bulky clothes or anything you don’t wear regularly. Make sure you can move freely. If you are uncomfortable or fidgety, it will show and affect your performance.

Be flexible. You are an actor and need to be able to take direction. It’s good to have your own ideas, but also try suggestions that are given to you by the director. If you come across as stubborn or difficult, it won’t matter how good you are…people will not want to work with you. There are too many other actors out there that are just as good and willing to work with the director to bring about his/her vision for the project. This does not mean, however, that you have to compromise your personal values. If someone insists that you to do something that crosses the line for you, it’s best to just politely explain you can’t do that and leave. No part is worth making less of yourself than what you are.

Say thank you. Mom was right…always say thank you! Good old-fashioned politeness will make great strides for your career, whatever it may be. It leaves a positive impression with the casting agent and shows that you appreciate their time. It could even make the difference between choosing you over another actor. Even if you’re not right for this part, your good attitude may be remembered when the next casting call comes around. And being remembered (in a good way) is what it’s all about!

Top Christian Artists

October 28th, 2008 | Article by Felrna | Culture and Society, Hobbies, Music and Movies, Religion and Spirituality

Every genre of music has their top singers that seem to have all the greatest hits.  Christian music is no different there are plenty of artists who are considered among the top artists within the genre.  They have songs that make the audience think and want more from them.  There are artists like any genre that could be one hit wonders, and there are others who will have hit after hit that top the charts as soon as it comes out and holds that position for many weeks.  These artists are ones that know what makes people think and will tug at their heartstrings, not to mention making them want to have a better personal relationship with Christ.

Jeremy Camp: His songs come from the heart and you can tell as you listen to them.  His words pierce your heartstrings and makes you really think about your relationship with God.  His song “Walk By Faith” can be a song of redemption for many, it could many make it through a hard time they are dealing with.  I know it has helped me.  He has ballads like “Walk By Faith,” and then he has rock like songs such as “Take My Life.”  Whatever your tastes in music are, Jeremy Camp has it and he will become one of your favorites as you listen to his music.

Natalie Grant:  Her voice is like an angel’s.  She has ballad like songs and can bring tears to your eyes as you listen to the words.  The melodies of her songs are soft and tender almost mimicking the personality of God, soft and tender.  Her song “Held” is an amazing piece.  The chorus goes “this is what it means to held how it feels when the sacred is torn from life and you survive this is what it is to be loved to know that the promise is when everything fell we’d be held.”  Gives hope to the audience because it helps us remember that we will be held and carried through some of the hardest moments in our lives.

Casting Crowns:  This group is probably one of the most popular.  Many people who listen to Christian radio will hear at least one Casting Crowns songs.  Their song “Who Am I” is another powerful song.  It talks about who am I that God would send his only son to die on the cross for us.  It really puts into perspective why Jesus died for us and the feelings and emotions the revolve around knowing that Christ died for our.  They are another group that has any form of music that people would be interested in such as pop like songs to ballad like songs which is what “Who Am I” is.

Nicole C Mullen: Nicole seems to be newer to the Christian scene, but I could be wrong.  She has a wonderful soprano voice that is unique from many others.  Her most popular song would probably be “My Redemeer Lives,” but she has many other wonderful and powerful songs.  I know I keep saying powerful, but how else would I describe these songs?  Her song “One Touch” is about the Samaritan woman who had so much faith that if she just touched the hem of Christ’s garment then she would be healed.  There are many people listening to her songs that feel the same way.  If we could just touch Christ’s robe, then we would be healed.  The first time I heard it, it made me cry because the song described how I was feeling.

David Crowder Band:  This group has a song that my church sings called “Undignified.”  It is such a fun song, and there are times when a Christian can be undignified when we praise God because we get moved and start to dance around and sometime jump in place.  Many people would think that non-conventional churches that promote dancing, tambourines and jumping that they are “undignified.”  The band is saying they are proud to be considered undignified if it means they are getting excited and energized about praising God.

Rebecca St. James:  St. James is probably the most known female Christian musician.  I know she was the first female artist that I have heard when I started listening to Christian music.  Her voice is very distinguished; you would be able to tell that a song is from her.  You can hear on of her songs on the Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack, the song is called “Lion.”  It’s a great song I play it all the time as I am getting ready to go somewhere.  She is probably most known for her “wait for me” campaign which is about saving your virginity for marriage. She has a book about it and a song where she is asking her future husband to wait for her as she waits for him.  It is a great song to help encourage teens to wait for marriage.

Jay Menendes:  I read about Jay in a magazine called “Relevent,”  they were talking to him about his own campaign called “I Am Constance.”  He is trying to get the word out about human trafficking and that it still occurs and how horrible it actually is.  He is different from the others on this list because he is a rapper.  I think too many people have the mistaken idea that rap music is just about using swear words and talking about violence.  Jay is one of the artists that proves that stereotype wrong, and that rap music can make a difference in the world.  He has a soft voice that makes  you think he has felt some hardships within his own life to add to his songs and the words that he is singing.  You can tell he sings them from his heart and that he is truly invested into his work.

Pillar:  Pillar is a rock band.  Many of their songs can deal with fighting the addiction to pornography.  That is a subject that many people will not be so willing to sing about.  They have a sound that will keep you wanting more and the music really gets into your head.  You will find yourself bobbing your head to the music and after you hear a song, you will most likely be singing it.  ‘Frontline” is a great song about serving on the front line in the army of God.  Meaning that you are not afraid to declare you are a Christian.  Our battle cry is our faith and our songs.

Listening to Christian radio can help you hear some musicians that you haven’t heard before, but it also can help you know who are the most popular.  When you are starting into the Christian music, you want to try listening to some of the popular artists then looking for ones that may not be as popular that fit your musical style.  I think  everyone should listen to at least one song by everyone of the popular artists.  That way you will get a good idea of whose music you like and you can find people who have similar sounds.

The curse of the DVD piracy

October 19th, 2008 | Article by Anna | Computers and Internet, Music and Movies

The DVD piracy costs the Hollywood million of dollars, but the industry should ask itself very serious why people have started to buy pirate DVDs.

Big Boss isn’t having fun these days. In the first place, because he was forced to admit that that internet`s pirates have almost destroyed the musical industry. The musicians seem to have survived. Now it`s the turn of the movie industry… So, how sweet is the devil?

According to the recent research of Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), almost one of for users have download illegal a movie, and half of them are intending to continue. They also say that in the last years people have been downloading more movies than music.

Broadband

MPPA estimates that Hollywood had lost 1,9 billion dollars last year. Smaller video cameras helped pirates to create very comfortable the “bootleg” copies. How much time has to past until Jude Law or Kate Winslet will become unemployed?

The big “players”

A big group including Microsoft, Disney, Sony and IBM have concluded to offer to consumer the legal possibility to make DVD copies for portable devices. This represents a concentrated effort of the big “players” to make a step forward before the pirates.

At present, the DVDs are protected by a system named CSS (Content Scrambling System), which theoretical  prevents the plagiarize. But programs as DVD X Copy have succeeded to break the CSS codes.

It`s pretty hard to see piracy a crime when to stay at your computer downloading Spider-Man 3. The questions that should Big Boss respond is ” Why so many people prefer to by pirate goods?” The answer isn’t that we became delinquents over night, the problem is that we are displeased with the services received.

Why should we wait?

We want to see the recent movies immediately that they appear, not at 3-4 months after the Americans. So, the challenge for the movie industry should be how to offer more value to the clients.

This is for Reel

October 17th, 2008 | Article by Ekta K. Kalra | Music and Movies

Motion pictures have captured the imagination of millions since the start of the 20th century. For the price of a single movie ticket, the general public can live the exciting lives of explorers, secret agents, and mob bosses, even for a few short hours. There is no use denying the immeasurable effects of movies on the psyche of people around the world.

The world has grown accustom to seasonal releases of Hollywood blockbuster films. Worst, the success or impact of a movie is determined by the number of tickets sold and the amount earned by the studios. For decades, this has been the case. It has always been a matter of profit.

However, in recent years, younger and more innovative filmmakers have taken on the role of rejuvenating the film industry with unique movies of their own. Instead of relying or copying the prefabricated styles commonly seen in Hollywood movies, the latest generation of movie-makers have taken it upon themselves to develop their own styles.

Rejecting any financial help from large movie studios and conglomerates, independent filmmakers, especially those coming from Asian countries, are making waves in the movie industry with their provocative and sometimes revolutionary films. Movies about cultural diversity, racial discrimination, poverty, and war-torn societies are starting to make their mark on the moviegoers of today.

The pure essence of the independent film is its uniqueness and freedom from any obligations or conditions. Unlike the studio-marketed blockbusters, independent films have a deeper and more profound objective apart from profit. Independent movies aim to expose their subjects to the rest of the world. By watching these films, people learn to distinguish reality from packaged realities. They are then exposed to the harsh realities in this world of ours, ultimately freeing them from biases and apathy.

With the advent of newer technologies, independent movie-makers now have better opportunities to spread their message through their masterpieces. In the foreseeable future, independent films will never run out of audiences, or subjects.
