Author Review: Langston Hughes: Voice of Struggle

October 28th, 2008 | Article by Felrna | Hobbies, Other, Personal Development, Publishing, Religion and Spirituality, Writing

Langston Hughes is one of the best poets in the world of poetry.  His work says a lot about life as an African American and the struggles the culture had to go through to get where they are today.  Langston Hughes words leap off the page and make the reader think and contemplate what he has said.  He has many different types of poetry; one of which is called a blues poem.  Blues poetry have a strict pattern: one long line, repeated, and a third line that rhymes with the first two.  Sometimes the second line is repeated, but altered slightly.  The theme of the blues poetry are the same: being in the midst of trouble, friendliness, hunger, and disappointment in love.  Langston Hughes is probably one of the best blues poet I have ever read.

Hughes’ poem “Po’ Boy Blues” has every one of the themes mentioned above.  He talks about the troubles he finds and struggling to make it in the North.  Then he talks about meeting someone and falling in love only to have her leave him and “almost lose ma mind.”  He uses the dialect that African American’s may have used during the Harlem Renessaince.  He starts the poem out saying “When I was home de sunshine seemed like gold.”  To him everything seemed good and happy when he was home.  Where home was in this poem we are unsure of he doesn’t say, but it was probably in the south since he mentions the North being cold.  To him just having another day in the sun brought happiness and light to a world of darkness.  Sunshine is a symbol of happiness of gold of course a symbol of riches so when he was home with families and friends the narrator could have felt like a rich man.  When he was home the sunshine felt as abundant and as precious as gold.  Then being in the North or even simply America it didn’t seem as abundant or clouded by hatred and other things that would make the world around seem cold and heartless.

After the lines about the sunshine being gold he says “since I came up North de whole wide world’s turned cold.”   This line gives the sense that the world seemed completely different from what he knew at home.  It was cold and dark something that he wasn’t used to.  At this point the reader could always speculate why the world seemed cold; maybe he seen new things, things he never wanted to see probably more of how segregated everything was and the African Americans were being treated, not better than he had hoped.  The next stanza starts out saying “I was a good boy never done wrong….” and ends with “..But this world is weary an’ de road is hard an’ long.”  The reader gets the idea that the narrator did everything he was told, everything he was supposed to do and never did anything wrong or to get himself into trouble.  Now he is wondering why the road is so hard now.  It is like all of life is a struggle.  It goes with the idea that the grass isn’t always greener.  One could think that being free wasn’t really “free” after all because there was more struggle now than before.

Saying that the road is long and hard gives insight to the long road ahead to finally finding equality.  It will take years for the African Americans to get the equality they deserved and Hughes most likely saw how long and hard it would be which could be what this whole poem is about.  The struggles to find equality and that everything wasn’t always better as people may have thought.  His poem could have been a way to make people listen and see the struggle that was going on a take interest and try to make things better.  Hughes knew the struggle and pain his people would face in the future.  I think his saying “I’ve been a good boy” makes me think that he felt that doing as he was told and working hard to get to a certain point meant he and others deserved the equality for the work the did, and he was right!  His third stanza tells of how hard it was to get that equality and some of the consequences of trying hard to fight and get what he deserved.

The beginning of the third stanza “I fell in love with a gal” makes me wonder if the gal is really a gal and not a symbol for the idealistic American so many people look for everyday.  Many have referred to America in terms of a woman, saying “she is a powerful country” or “her people” so why wouldn’t one fall in love with a gal that is represented of America and the dream of the perfect American life.  The last line of the stanza he says “an’ almost lose ma mind.” Could it be that trying to achieve that perfect American life as an African American was such a struggle he almost lost his mind.  Or that realizing that almost no African Americans could achieve that dream during that time was possible could make one lose their mind.  I think Hughes was trying to make people see the damage the struggle had not just in a physical way, but also mentally and emotionally.  Struggling for your own equality for work, education, and more had to have been draining in all aspects that would make anyone lose their minds.  The third stanza as well as the whole poem could have been full of symbolism which is the point of poetry isn’t it?

Langston Hughes ends the poem saying “I’s so weary I wish I never been born.”  Could he be saying the hatred and pain he saw day in and day out for himself and his people made him just not want to exist, to never be born.  I have to wonder if Hughes knew of the impact of his poetry as he was writing it.  The last line is a powerful one, probably the most powerful of the poem.  He talks of struggle and falling in love with the idea of a perfect America, yet the struggle and hard work to get there and fight for what’s right was so draining, he felt it would have been better if he just had never been born.  What a feeling to have while struggling to achieve the rights and equality not just for yourself, but an entire culture.  The beginning of the stanza is simply “weary weary, weary early in de morn.”  Morning is supposed to be a time of being refreshed and rejuvenated.  A time when you feel reday to take on the world, but when you are really taking on the world or what seems to be the world, morning isn’t a time of being refreshed, but a time of being so weary of having to face it all over again.

Langston Hughes’ poem is one of many powerful ones he wrote contained in the book “Dream Keeper.”  His work made such a difference in the world; he changed the mindset of so many people.  He made people see what was right and what needed to be done.  Langston Hughes may not have know the power his poetry had, but he molded the future and made it a better place and opened the doors for many young people.  He showed with hard work and determination, anything and everything is possible.  Reading Langston Hughes’ poetry takes you into a world you have never known and seen.  You will see poetry at it’s best and what it should be, Langston Hughes is one of the best poets and his work will be remember for a long time.  Take the time and read at least one of his poem, you will never think the same and you will want to read more.  I guarantee it.

Author Review: Matthew Pearl

October 28th, 2008 | Article by Felrna | Hobbies, Publishing, Writing

Do you like mysteries that make you think and have an ending you would never expect?  Do you like to have a storyline that will captivate you and hold your attention?  Lastly do you want a book that would have minor classical literature elements?  Then the novels written by Matthew Pearl the books for you.  Right now he only has two novels on the market: “The Poe Shadow” and “The Dante Club.”  His novels are based on different literature elements.  “The Dante Club” is a murder mystery that revolves around the gruesome details Dante uses to describe the different circles of Hell, and “The Poe Shadow” revolves around the mysterious death of Edgar Allen Poe.  They will undoubtedly hold your attention from the beginning to the end.  You wouldn’t want to put the novels down until you finish them.

“The Dante Club” is a book that goes into exact details of the murder.  If you have a weak stomach, it may make you a little queasy.  The suspects are the men who were translating the Inferno from Italian to English so that more people could read it: Lowell, Longfellow, Oliver Holmes, and J.T. Fields.  While they are the prime suspects, they spend their time trying to find the real killer.  The novel will take you all throughout Boston as more murders are committed as they would appear in the Inferno according to the sins of the person.  “The Dante Club” was said to be “Captivating…Pearl keeps this mystery sparkling with erudition.’  That was from the New York Times, and The Wall Street Journel said “A page turner…Pearl’s book will delight the Dante novice and expert alike.”  Many have said great things about this novel, and there is plenty of reason for  it.  Pearl is said to be one of literary fictions newest shining stars because he seems to have a gift to weave such intricate plots and keep his audience captivated through those intricate designs.

Pearl starts out with the first murder, it is something that you are unsure of what to expect.  The details that Pearl uses to describe this and the subsequent murders are wonderful.  It is almost as if you are the chief of police right there at the scene seeing it all.  The first murder is probably the most grossest one because Pearl goes into detail about the maggots and other things crawling on the dead body.  Right at the beginning you wonder where the author is going to take this story and if the murders will get all the more gruesome as he proceeds.  As the club investigates the murders you start to have ideas of who you think committed the murders.  I found myself to be wrong with every turn.  He takes the novel in so many directions that keep you on your toes.  “The Dante Club” is really like no other murder mystery that I have read.  Pearl had to have really done his research on the Dante images because he was right on the mark with how Dante describes the punishments in the Inferno.

The interesting thing Pearl does is instead of naming the chapters: chapter one or chapter five, he uses the words canticle which reflect that Dante used the words Canto to separate different parts of his poem.  Even though he chose to mimic the murders after the punishments Dante talks about, Pearls words are easy to understand and well read.  He doesn’t go into using big words or even some of the words that the original Inferno was based on.  Pearl takes a classic poem that many people have heard of but never read because of the difficulty and made it something of interest for all readers a like.  He makes The Inferno an all new story that is familiar, yet different and new for those who pick up this Pearl novel.  He has such a passion for his writing, and it shows throughout this novel and his first: “The Poe Shadow.”  The reader can tell he has a love and desire to read and write about the classics that no one seems interested in anymore.  He brings them into a new light.

“The Poe Shadow” is the first book Pearl has written.  This novel as the title suggest revolves around the father of the macabre: Edgar Allen Poe.  The main character is enraged that the local papers do not go into more detail of the authors death and he begins his own investigation on how and why Poe had died.  While Edgar Allen Poe’s death is still a mystery Pearl puts his own ideas into this story to make a thrilling argument.  His main character spends most of his life searching of the man who could have been the person Poe modeled many of his characters around.  He thinks he found the man and tries to persuade him into helping him investigate Poe’s death and find out the real reason why no one has written a more in depth story about and why no one else seemed to be dishearted that this genius of literature has passed away.  As well as why his funeral was empty with only three men in attendance.  Quentin Clark (the main character) soon gets himself into more trouble than he bargained for.

The story starts out with a “letter” to the court written by Clark explaining the book.  It draws the reader in and makes them interested in why he would be considered an “outcast, a liar, a criminal and a clever, vile murderer.”  Pearl got highly ingenious with this novel because he mixed fictional characters with real ones who were a part of Poe’s life.  While it is ingenious and a remarkable idea, it also shows that Pearl knows about the subject he wrote about: Poe himself.  One would need to do an extensive amount of research to find out who was a part of Poe’s life and more importantly HOW they were a part of his life.  Pearl also talks about events that happened during his final days, such research: Pearl really knows his stuff and that is part of what makes his novels unique.  He doesn’t only take the time to write them, but also to do research into the subject and know everything he possibly can about it.

He separates different parts of the novel into “books.”  This helps separate one plot of the story from another, the first book he is in Boston working on a plan and thinking about why no one cared about the death of his favorite author, then the second book follows him across the world to Paris in search of the man he thinks Poe modeled one of his detective characters after.  The book three he heads back to Boston to put things in action more and really go in search of the events of Poe’s death and find out the men where at his funeral and why they didn’t have more in the papers.  Pearl keeps you captivated this way and the different books helps the reader from getting too confused about what is going on.  He works hard to make sure the readers don’t get lost.

Matthew Pearl is a phenomenal author and has the ability to captivate his audiences with stories about classic literature.  The cover art for his books are wonderful and is what draw your attention into the book and makes you wonder what it is about.  The sides resemble old fashion books with old school fonts of the side, “The Poe Shadow” has P’s on the “The Dante Club” has a D.  If you enjoy mysteries then Matthew Pearl is the author for you!

October 28th, 2008 | Article by Angel Sharum | Culture and Society, Family, Men's Issues, Other, Relationships, Women's Issues, Writing

Writing a romantic poem for someone is one of the best ways to express your feelings. You can put things in the poem that you may be too shy to say in person. Opening your heart to someone in this way will promote a connection. Letting your emotions flow into the poem will bring you and the other person closer. Romantic poetry is a great way to show the person you love your true self.

Think of all the qualities you really love about the other person. Things like how they look, what they believe in, their spirit, and traits that set them apart from others. Keep these all in mind while writing the poem. Expound on the person’s good qualities. Let your emotions show through in the writing. This is not the time to hold back!

Tell the person how you really feel about them. Make them feel the emotion in the poem. Explain exactly what you love about them. Use romantic words to convey everything.

Giving a romantic poem along with an engagement ring would be a nice touch. It is something your future bride is sure to remember.

Romantic poems are good gifts for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, and just as “I love you” presents. Plus it’s always good to give a romantic poem to show that you’re sorry for past transgressions.

Romantic poems aren’t just for men to write either. Women can write one for their guy. Men may not admit it, but they like getting sentimental gifts too. Anyone in a relationship should take the time to show the other person what they mean to them.

Poetry has long been a sure way to a woman’s heart. Pour your heart and soul into the poem. Show her exactly how you feel about her, and you can’t go wrong. Write a romantic poem today and cement your relationship.

Party School Lists: Why Are They Continuing to Publish These Every Year?

October 24th, 2008 | Article by Queenbee7519 | Culture and Society, Family, Other, Publishing, Writing

The Princeton Review had started the tradition of publishing an annual list of party schools around the country and it’s becoming a huge issue with the AMA(American Medical Association) and with Dr. Richard Yost who is the director of the AMA’s office of alcohol and other drug abuse was quoted to say according to information fro Wikipedia that “The Princeton Review should be ashamed of themselves to publish something for students and parents that fuels the false notion that alcohol is central to the college experience and that ignores the dangerous consequences of high-risk drinking. College binge drinking is a major public health issue and a source of numerous problems for institutions of higher living.” This is concerning because why is the Princeton Review continuing to publish their annual list of party schools? Could this also be contributing to high school seniors with a history of bad behavior to continue acting out in college in a careless and reckless manner? This can actually be more harmful than helpful because most are not aware of the seriousness that binge drinking kills, injures, and contributes to a high percentage of rape and sexual assault cases that happen on college campuses across the country.

It’s unclear to many as to why we give so much attention to party schools when the purpose of going to college is to get an education and Princeton University who owns, operates, and publishes the Princeton Review is one of the most prestige universities on the East Coast and anyone who goes there is absolutely going to find themselves pursued by job headhunters the world over simply because you graduated from one of the top schools in the country. Yet they put out list of schools that have the reputation for being party schools, but the fact is that party schools don’t really do much for students except give them a reason to waste money and time socializing instead of focusing on their work towards a degree. If anyone picked a party school off a list that was put out by the Princeton Review has their work cut out because it’s been proven over and over again that students who attend party schools don’t do well academically. Has the party school list caused a lot more issues in terms of steering students clear of some elements and to show them that party schools don’t turn out a high number of successful graduates with decent grades?

Should this list be discontinued? Yes, it should because a student should select a college for its academic opportunities not for the high socialization aspect and it’s when students go by the fact that these schools are hyped up either through lists like the one the Princeton Review puts out or word of mouth from past students or even reading reviews on the internet. Lists like these should not be published because it takes away from the sensible choice of a college or university and helping a student to set some structure in their life since the next 4 years is about building and preparing yourself for a degree and choice of career. It’s almost pointless to really tell new freshman about the top party schools because they get enough of an influence from what they see on television and on the internet of countless stories of schools that get crazy and out of hand with the partying. The annual Princeton Review party school list being discontinued might slow down the rate of students being quick to pick these places and maybe force some of these colleges and universities to change their environment so that it’s taken more seriously as a educational institution of higher learning and not some out of control night club.

Telling high school seniors about where the good time is only tells them that their education takes a backseat and many of them eventually regret it because of the fact that some of the behavior at party schools can mess up not only your grades, but opportunities that present itself. Socialization is one part of the college experience, but it’s not the majority of it. When you are in the process of selecting colleges you should be picking a school that is known for their top academics and majors not because they have endless frat and sorority houses on campus to party at. Some students are also not aware that many job headhunters are pretty cued up on which schools are known party schools and try to avoid giving them job offers and turn their attention to students who were actually serious about their education and graduating with grades higher than a 2.0 at least a 2.5 or higher.

Caring For Feral Cats

October 24th, 2008 | Article by Giovanni Di Nardi | Pets and Animals, Writing

I have been caring for feral and stray cats since 1988, far before it became widely popular.  Caring for ferals and strays takes a very special person.  You have to be responsible, dedicated, and consistent.  It also takes a considerable amount of time and money with regard to travel and pet food.

One of the most important factors in dealing with ferals is to gain their trust.  This takes some time, but once they no longer fear your presence, your job becomes much easier.  The reason I emphasize trust is because if one of the cats becomes ill and needs veterinary care, they are easier to handle for transport to your veterinarian.

Weather can also be a factor when caring for ferals and strays.  It may be a bit easier to perform your tasks when the weather is warm, however adjustments have to made when winter approaches.  Cats need food, water, and shelter.  What I usually do in early autumn is construct a series of insulated corrugated boxes.  I take these heavy cardboard boxes and insulate them by wrapping at least two heavy duty, green trash bags around them.  Once I cover them with the bags, I then tape the bags securely to the boxes and cut a large enough hole in the front of the box for easy entrance.

I usually make one box for every two cats.  Past experience has shown me that during cold weather cats like to double up in the boxes.  They snuggle up close to each other and the combined body heat keeps them very warm and comfortable.  Try to line the floor of the box with either a warm blanket, or remnants of rug pieces for comfort and warmth.  Because of inclement weather they may have to be changed several times during the cold winter months.

If your caring for a colony of outside ferals or strays, be sure to have them neutered or spayed as soon as possible.  This will keep them from reproducing and stabilize your colony.  There are several animal welfare groups like Alley Cat Allies, that can help  with information and costs.  In some areas there are also low cost spay and neuter clinics that specialize in dealing with ferals and strays.

Always familiarize yourself with the cats you are feeding and caring for.  This will enable you to know if one is missing or looking ill and needs veterinary care.  If your cats look ill or refuse to eat, be sure to get them to a veterinarian immediately.

When feeding your cats always be sure to find an area in which they feel secure and safe.  If at all possible, try to keep your feeding area away from roads and highways.  Be consistent, and try to feed your cats around the same time each day.  Cats can live for days without food, but not without water.  Be sure to supply your cats with fresh water every day.

I feed my cats in areas where they live, but away from homes and places too close to people.  I try to be discreet and not bring attention to myself or the cats.  I found in some instances, that the more discreet I become, the more secure and safe the cats become.

finally, contrary to popular belief, some ferals can be domesticated and make great pets.  I know, I have four that were former ferals and now are gentle, loving, pets.  Attempting to domesticate a feral is a tough task sometimes, but if you are non-threatening, talk softly around them, and move slowly, they will become accustomed to your presence and personality, and in time will allow you to pet them.  Once you can pet them, you can try to handle them more freely.  If they allow you to handle them freely this increases their chances of adoption.   The key to domestication is time and patience, but the rewards are more than worth your efforts.

We should always remember, these unfortunate victims if not cared for properly will live short, miserable lives.  A little bit of compassion on our part can make a huge difference for these beautiful felines.  If you know someone that needs help with a colony or an organization that needs volunteers to help ferals…get involved, you will be glad you did.

The Book of the Century

October 23rd, 2008 | Article by Anna | Hobbies, Publishing, Recreation and Leisure, Writing

A classic of our times or an escapist yarn? Although its popularity is unparalleled, some intellectuals dismiss The Lord of the Rings as boyish fantasy. Andrew O`Hehir defends Tolkien`s ‘true myth’ as a modern masterpiece, and attempts to discover the secret of its success.

Attitudes in America are arguably more relaxed about this kind of thing. No one from American educated classes expresses much dismay when a 1999 poll of American on-line bookshop Amazon.com customers chose the ‘The Lord of the Rings’ as the greatest book not merely of the century but of the millennium. Tolkien`s book is so deeply ingrained in popular culture, after all, that a great many of today`s American academics and journalist probably still have those dog-eared paperbacks they read avidly in eighth grade with their hallucinatory mid-1970s cover art.

Furthermore, members of the U.S. intelligentsia fully expected to have their tastes ignores, if not openly derided, by the public at large. To some American intellectuals it seems gratifying that so many millions of readers will happily devour a work as complicated as ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Whatever one make of it, it`s more challenging read than ‘Gone with the wind’( runner-up in the Amazon.com), not to mention ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer`s Stone’(fifth place).

Hugely ambitious in scope, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ occupies an uncomfortable position in 20th century literature. It has enjoyed massive and enduring popularity. It would seem that Tolkien`s work supplied something that was missing among the formal innovations of 20th century fiction, something for which readers were ravenous. But what was it, and why was it important?

Answering this question would probably require a book rather than an article. But is seems that the crux of the matter lies in Tolkien`s wholehearted rejection of modernity and modernism. This is so powerfully attracts some readers, and just as powerfully repels others.

This book is also deeply grounded in Tolkien`s linguistic expertise - he invented whole languages for his characters. Sometimes he became so absorbed in the creation of languages, in fact, that he put the story itself aside for months or years at a time, believing he could not continue until some quandary or inconsistency in his invented realm had been resolved. But Tolkien`s immense intellect and erudition is not the source of his success; without his storytelling gift, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ would be little more than a curiosity. And this gift seems to stem straight from his refusal to break from classical and traditional forms.

Tolkien himself often spoke of his work as something ‘found’ or ‘discovered’, something whose existence was independent of him. As a result, his details have the weight of reality, linguistic and otherwise, and because of this great sweep of story feels real as well; you might say that his imaginary castles are built with a certain amount of genuine stone. Other writers` fantasy world are made up. Tolkien`s inherited.

Make Money Online-Learn How Now!

October 16th, 2008 | Article by sexysnow72 | Business and Finance, Computers and Internet, Hobbies, Home, Marketing, Writing

Many people choose to work at home using their computers, and considering the price of gas and the lack of jobs, it’s not such a bad idea!  The problem is finding out what really works, and what doesn’t! I have spent the last three years online, trying to find ways to make money online.

It seems that there are ads all over the internet promising you that you can make a fortune by purchasing their program! Don’t fall for that! No one is going to make you rich over night! If someone knew how to make millions, why wouldn’t they be doing it instead of trying to convince you of how to do it?

There really are many ways to make money online. I’m not going to tell you that my way is the best or that it will make you rich by the end of the week either. As a matter of fact, I have to use several programs in order to make a decent amount of money working online. After three years of sorting through the bull, I have found a few programs that really do work. I use these programs to bring in about 1,500.00 per month.

The one thing that you can do to make a large amount of money, in a small amount of time is bum marketing. Bum marketing can be started without costing you any money except for internet service! Bum marketing is a form of affiliate marketing, but it doesn’t cost you anything because you advertise for free!

For those of you that aren’t sure what affiliate marketing is, I’ll give you a quick run down. Affiliate marketing in my opinion is similar to a car salesman. You sell something for someone else and they give you a percentage of the sale. Most of the time the pay is between 50 to 75 % of what the sale price actually is. There are many people online that need affiliates to help them make sales.

Once you sign up with a marketer and pick your product, you will be given a special link. This is the link that you will advertise. When someone makes a purchase using this link, you will get paid a commission. It really is that simple! The hard part is figuring out where and how to advertise your special link. You could sign up for Google AdWords, and pay to advertise your special link using a certain keyword, to get targeted customers. These are people that are typing in that certain keyword, so they most likely want to buy what you are selling.

Or you could advertise your special link for free, this is called bum marketing. Articles are a great way to get free advertising. Article marketing could make you a great deal of money when applying your special link to the article. Writing your article using specific keywords, will also help you to get targeted customers. Before you know the sales will be rolling in!

This is not the only way to make money online but it is indeed the fastest and least expensive! There is also surveys, GPT sites, getting paid to write articles and so much more! If you are interested in learning how to make money online, please visit us at Easy Online Money Makers!

Tips for Recharging Creativity and the Science Behind Them

October 14th, 2008 | Article by Ekta K. Kalra | Personal Development, Writing

It can be difficult at the end of a long day of work and family life, to find the time to nurture your creativity. Often, this means making time for only yourself and this often seems unnecessary and maybe a little selfish. And while it seems so easy to push “creative time” aside, not thinking it essential for every day life, science underscores the health benefits associated with creative activities. Below are a few tips to help you re-spark your creativity along with a few short scientific explanations of why you have these reactions.

1. Find a place. Since it’s so hard to find time for yourself, first find a place instead. It should be somewhere that you feel excited to visit. For me, often this is a place in nature, but perhaps you might feel just as comfortable in library. Try out different spaces and make note of how you feel when you enter. Many studies have been done on the effects of environment on mood and while untangling just why might be difficult given different experiences and exposures, be sure your body and mind are having chemical reactions to what they experience.

2. Take a hike. Thoreau once said: “Nature abhors a vacuum, and if I can only walk with sufficient carelessness I am sure to be filled.” Take a brisk walk in the morning and let yourself think of nothing else but what you’re seeing. If you are filled with too many stresses, there is no room for new experiences and you are closed. Let your walk be your purging so that you can be refilled. Plus, a little exercise will get the blood flowing and increase oxygen to the brain, which increases its function. A walk in nature works on a spiritual and physical level.

3. Take a hot bath. The benefits of hot springs have been known for thousands of years and have been used by the Greeks, Romans, and Japanese. Heat releases tension and soreness in muscles and our bodies, being mostly water themselves, find special comfort in immersion. Hot water also increases sweating, which can draw out many toxins that we’ve been exposed to during the day, and has often been used as a tool to relieve symptoms of congestion and bronchitis.

4. Listen to music. I recommend classical because it’s non-intrusive, but any music encourages you to empty out your mind and be filled with new stimuli. Scientifically speaking, music also activates the pleasure circuits of the mind such as the hypothalamus; the parts of our brain that experience pleasure literally light up when we hear music.

These are just a few ideas to help get your creative spark going. Too easily we see creativity as something of a luxury, to be indulged in only when there’s time. However, there is a lot of science behind our creative longings and so what’s good for the mind is also good for the body and vice versa.
