Get into the Holiday Spirit
Article about: Holiday Season
It’s getting colder, leaves are changing and you are so stressed by work, school or just life in general and you can’t enjoy it the way you used to. When you do are working, living and taking care of your home it is difficult to get into the holiday spirit because you have so much going on but there are a few things that you can do to help yourself out.
When you go out to do something with a friend get seasonal food or a beverage that reminds you of the holiday season. For example if you really love turkey and stuffing get turkey soup and a side of cornbread or a turkey sandwich on herb bread. That way by the time Thanksgiving rolls around you aren’t tired of one of your favorite things.
Look for presents every time you go out from the beginning of October til Christmas. That way you won’t be stressed out looking for presents while you should be enjoying yourself. Also designate an evening or two per week to wrap the presents that you’re getting that way you won’t be rushing on Christmas Eve.
Drink hot cocoa, wassail, mint tea, or whatever drink you can make that makes your senses shout ‘Holiday time’. Put Cinnamon potpourri in you living room or whatever room you would like, also candles that smell like cookies or spices work well too if you have kids or pets and can’t have potpourri.
Pick out your cards early and start putting out little snowmen so you don’t get tired of having red and green out all over the place. If you’re going to make things for your gifts the earlier you start the better that way you can make sure no one is forgotten.
Whatever you do don’t start listening to carols or watching movies too soon unless it’s during your wrapping times and you’re sure you can handle it because I have seen people turn into complete scrooges when the Holidays actually roll around because they had Holiday overload while they were trying to get in the mood.
