How can you be a great young mom and still have the life you wanted before the kids came along?
Not easy. There are a lot of things to be considered. There’s the babysitter, the job choice, the friends who don’t have children yet, and of course, money for bills, diapers, etc. Let me give you some pointers. First and foremost, always put your kids first. If you can do that you’ve got it made. Most young parents have an issue with that concept, because for years, they were their own first priority. It is a normal feeling. After you have managed that task. Always make sure that you are a parent FIRST. Let the kids know they are loved. Take them out to the park or just have fun with them every chance you get.
Then the job choice. Obviously you need a job that makes decent money when you have kids. The main thing is to have enough money for your needs at home. Then there is the question of what shift. First shift is great when the kids are in school or really anytime because you have the whole evening to cherish them. The big question is.. Does your employer let you take time off when you need to be home if the kids are sick or you need to visit the school for something important? A job that fits all of these categories will be hard to find. They are out there!
The babysitter is another tough case. You need someone cheap, trustworthy, and reliable. You need to know your kids are in good hands and you still have a little cash left over. Family members are great babysitters. Most are trustworthy and do not charge a thing. When you want to go out with your friends, line up the babysitter for a few hours on a day off or however you choose and go. It is easier said than done, but you CAN do it. Some of your friends may have stopped coming around so much after the kids came. Especially if they have not had any yet. That’s okay. Most likely they are afraid that either, they’ll want one, or you won’t be as much fun because you have them. At first it may seem that way but the more they come around the more they will accept the fact that your friendship does not have to change because of this. Times are tough, but as long as you keep an open mind and your priorities straight, you will be fine.
Congratulations in taking the necessary steps to becoming a great young mom.
