On select nights in September and October, guests at the Walt Disney World resort can purchase separate tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, a special event in which the Magic Kingdom is transformed into a Halloween wonderland. The event is hosted by the “Ghost Host” of the haunted mansion, and the music in the parks changes to Halloween-themed songs such as “Boo To You,” “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” “This is Halloween,” and many of the villain songs from the classic Disney movies.
Some of the exclusive entertainment that takes place during the party includes Mickey’s Boo To You Parade, in which the Disney characters dance through Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Main Street sporting masks and lots of delicious candy. The headless horseman who runs down the street before the parade begins is a spooktacular sight that is not to be missed. The villains take center stage during the party in their Villains Mix and Mingle show that takes place in front of the castle. In this show, we see many classic Disney villains such as Maleficent, Jafar, Frollo, and the Queen of Hearts singing and dancing about Halloween. After the show, they down and mingle with the guests in the audience. The Happy HalloWishes fireworks show contains many colorful fireworks that are set off all throughout the park to villain songs as well as Haunted Mansion music.
Tickets for the event are cheaper than a regular day ticket to the park, but the parties only last from 7pm until midnight. However, guests with Not-So-Scary tickets are allowed to enter the Magic Kingdom using their tickets starting at 4pm. Since it is an exclusive event, lines for the rides are much shorter because all of the day guests who do not have tickets are escorted out of the park when the party begins. Though the tickets are somewhat costly, it is easy to make up for the price in chocolate, as there are many trick-or-treating stations located all throughout the Magic Kingdom park where guests can go for free candy. They are given trick-or-treating bags on their way into the party, and many people dress up for the event.
