Article about: Fiction, flash fiction, short short story

Flash fiction is a work that has strong characters, an interesting plot, and tells a complete story in under 1,000 words. A work of flash fiction is sometimes called a short, short story.

If you look up either one, you will find numerous places that accept flash fiction. Not everyone can write a complete story in this few words. If you think you can, try your hand at it and submit a story for publication.

As with any writing, make sure your spelling and grammar are correct and that you follow the guidelines of the publication when submitting. A good story will be turned down if the rules aren’t followed.

Payment for flash fiction will often be less than for longer stories. I’ve seen payments ranging from three dollars to fifty dollars.

Another way to make money with flash fiction is by entering contests. Contests are fun and usually easy to enter. Again, make sure to follow the rules of the site.

Whether it’s contest or online publications, you will get valuable insight by putting your work out there. Feedback and criticism is essential to every writer. The more you write the better you’ll get, so try your hand at flash fiction and see what happens.
